Swamps, marshes, meanders and cut-off river distributaries, like that of the Tisza in the photos in this album, tend to be overgrown with reeds. It's a perfect place to hide and watch. In the place photographed, that's even the intention of the architectural design - to observe the local fauna, birds and fish, as informed by the signs accompanying the long footbridge. The footbridge is surrounded by reeds reaching several meters in height, which offers perfect cover. It is an ideal observation point for humans. One of the reasons our eyes have evolved to be so close together, unlike some animals such as birds and fish, is to see deeply through the dense vegetation. Watching others, whether animals or people, without being seen ourselves is something we sometimes have a tendency to do. Whether we are running away and want a sense of security, or are chasing and want to gain an unexpected advantage. For example, when taking street photographs.
